EASY Nut Free Bliss Balls

Bliss balls are a nutritious and easy snack for kids. The trouble is for us that a lot of the recipes out there have nuts in them. Some set quite hard as well making them hard for little mouths to chew - these bliss balls are quite soft.

The recipe below is nut free and I've used sunflower seeds to keep the nutrition up and make them safe for kids with nut allergies and safe for lunchboxes for everyone. If your kids are okay with nuts of course you could swap the seeds for whatever you like to have at home.

TIP:If you are trialing nuts for your child with allergies (or will do in the future) I found bliss balls to be an excellent way to trial nuts at home - we gave Alex one every day. With our doctors permission, I made bliss balls initially with just walnuts in. Then we tried pecans and I did half walnuts (to keep them in his diet) and half pecan. We added macadamia next and I did one quarter walnut, one quarter pecan and half macadamia. As we trialed other nuts I just swapped it around. We did trial each nut for three weeks before it was passed because Alex wasn't at risk of anaphylaxis to tree nuts but some do flare his eosinophilic oesophagitis and a log trial period is required for this.
